State-level action alone is not enough to avoid the worst consequences of climate change. Voters in early primary states have a chance to tell the White House and Congress that they can—and must—take the following steps to deliver the steep reductions in heat-trapping emissions:
- Put a price tag on carbon emissions
- Pass national clean energy and clean vehicle standards
- Fund infrastructure resiliency projects
- Drive innovation
