Illinois has an ambitious goal to eliminate heat-trapping emissions from its power plants. Smart energy storage policy can help get us there.

According to a new UCS analysis, increasing battery storage in Illinois to store excess wind and solar power is essential to maximize electric grid reliability, bring more renewables online, and reduce air pollution and climate harms by enabling the phase out of fossil fuels.

We need reliable clean energy to power our future. Batteries are a proven resource that help wind and solar power perform at their best. With open, transparent analysis of the power grid, we can help ensure that Illinois is investing wisely and maximizing the benefits of a clean energy grid for all.
