Lee Shaver is a Senior Energy Analyst for the Union of Concerned Scientists' Climate and Energy Program. In this role, he studies microgrids and distributed generation, with a focus on policies and technologies that support a fast and equitable transition to a fully decarbonized grid.
Prior to joining UCS, Lee worked for 15 years as a project manager, energy consultant, and energy engineer. In these roles he designed and implemented building energy management systems, consulted on mergers and acquisitions in the energy and utilities industry, and conducted research on the effectiveness, scalability, and impact of technologies on the grid edge, with a focus on microgrids.
Lee holds degrees in electrical engineering from LeTourneau University (BS) and the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MS), where he also completed a graduate certificate in energy analysis and policy. Lee also completed two years of service as a US Peace Corps Volunteer in El Salvador.
