Daela is a Communications Officer with the Union of Concerned Scientists and works with members of the press to support scientifically accurate, people-centered news stories on energy and corporate accountability.
With a background in communications and organizing across various social-environmental movements, Daela strives to tell stories of interconnectedness, resilience, and hope. They previously worked for Climate Nexus on international climate diplomacy and finance, which took them on an enlightening trip to Dubai for COP28.
Daela holds a bachelor of science in Earth Systems, where they dedicated their studies to a systems-based approach to climate change, ecosystem management, and communications. Their passion for fighting climate change originates in their childhood love and fascination with nature, as well as their ‘aiga living at the frontlines of climate change in Samoa and Tonga.
