Coreen Weintraub is the Western States Associate Director at the Union of Concerned Scientists. In her role, she works with scientists, analysts, and policy experts to craft outwardly facing campaigns that connect UCS’s expert and supporter networks with opportunities for action. Based in Oakland, Coreen focuses on helping California build a climate-resilient water system, expanding access to electric vehicles, and developing cleaner fuels.
Prior to joining UCS, Coreen was a campus organizer for the Public Interest Research Group, where she worked with college students on a grassroots advocacy campaign that successfully banned plastic bags in California. Most recently, she was a communications and event coordinator for a nonprofit working to reform California’s property tax laws.
Coreen earned a B.A. in anthropology from the University of California, Los Angeles.
