Lisa Van Theemsche is the Washington Representative II for the Center for Science and Democracy program at the Union of Concerned Scientists. In her role, she works to advance science-based policy decisions on science regulations and democracy issues.
Prior to joining UCS, Ms. Van Theemsche worked on Capitol Hill for her New Mexico Congressional delegation in various roles. She served as Legislative Assistant to former Senator Tom Udall covering agriculture policy. Ms. Van Theemsche also served as a legislative aide, correspondence manager, and a legislative correspondent for Senator Udall, covering agriculture, environmental and natural resources, energy, arts & humanities, SNAP and WIC, and animal rights issues.
Born and raised in New Mexico, Ms. Van Theemsche earned a BA in government and in history from New Mexico State University.
