Mahzarin Banaji and her collaborators coined the term “implicit stereotypes” and “implicit bias” to refer to behavior that occurs without conscious awareness or intention. Today, Professor Banaji is Richard Clarke Cabot Professor of Social Ethics in the Department of Psychology at Harvard University, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, the American Philosophical Society, and has received numerous awards for her scientific contributions. She is a co-author of Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People.
