Kim has served on the City Council in Highland Park, IL since 2013. A former UCS staff member, she ran for elected office to address climate change by implementing policies locally. She serves as Co-Chair of Go Green Illinois and Co-Chair of the Task Force on Transit Electrification of Climate Reality Project: Chicago Metro Chapter, and is a member of the Board of Community Partners for Affordable Housing. Over the past 30 years, Kim has worked for several environmental groups in Illinois; including Safer Pest Control Project, Environmental Law and Policy Center and Great Lakes Protection Fund. The mother of two children, she holds Masters degrees in Public Policy and Population Planning from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College.
