Jules Barbati-Dajches is an analyst for the Center for Science and Democracy at the Union of Concerned Scientists. In their role, Dr. Barbati conducts research and analyses on the politicization of science and equity to help advance advocacy campaigns.
Prior to joining UCS, Dr. Barbati worked in numerous research, teaching, and messaging capacities. Recently, they were an adjunct lecturer at the University of Arizona and a consultant who helped inform organizations’ messaging and data collection/analysis. Their past research examines how perceptions and behaviors are influenced by messaging factors (e.g., source, format, medium), with a focus on social inequities and their impact on marginalized and vulnerable groups.
Dr. Barbati’s research has been published in peer-reviewed journals, including Mass Communication and Society, Health Communication, Psychology of Popular Media, Communication Research Reports, Communication Studies, and Vaccine.
Dr. Barbati received their PhD in communication from the University of Arizona, and their MA and BA in communication from the University of Oklahoma.
