Resilience 21, a coalition of more than 500 holistic resilience practitioners, hosted by Resilient Cities Network, will hold a Town Hall at 5 p.m. Eastern tonight to discuss the need for The National Climate Adaptation and Resilience Strategy Act. The bipartisan bill would create a heightened focus on resilience within the federal government structure to help municipalities become more resilient to climate change and start to rectify the inequities that make low-income communities and communities of color the most vulnerable to these impacts.
Staff from the offices of Sen. Chris Coons (D-Del.) and Rep. María Elvira Salazar (R-Fla.) will join floodplain and climate justice experts, a Norfolk, Va., resilience officer and a Zurich vice president to discuss the details of the legislation, share information about how climate change is harming communities big and small, and explain the implications for the insurance sector.
The event conveners include the American Society of Adaptation Professionals, Pew Charitable Trusts, Resilience 21 Coalition, Resilient Cities Network, and Union of Concerned Scientists.
