WASHINGTON (December 7, 2017)—Scott Pruitt, head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), testified today before Congress—specifically the House Energy and Commerce Committee—where he confirmed intentions to announce early in the new year, possibly as early as January, the creation of a “Red Team, Blue Team” on the subject of climate change.
Below is a statement from Peter Frumhoff, director of science and policy at the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS).
“Scott Pruitt’s call for a ‘Red Team, Blue Team’ debate on climate change is a farce and a distraction. If he has questions about climate science, he should turn to the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, not hacks from the Heartland Institute.”
